The IndieCade Festival is the only stand-alone independent-focused game event in the nation. It is open to the industry and to the public.

IndieCade is held in multiple locations across downtown Culver City (Los Angeles). The Festival offers a unique opportunity to play and preview the latest innovative indie video games and rub shoulders with the creators of the newest games, as well as legends from across the industry.

IndieCade features independent games of every genre and platform from around the world! Come to IndieCade 2012 to experience an action-packed festival full of gameplay, previews, networking, workshop sessions, awards, and so much more....

Events include a professional conference, an exclusive business pre-event called the IndieXchange, a Red Carpet Awards Ceremony, festival workshops, keynotes, and family-focused activities, meet-and-greets with game creators, FREE gameplay with a GameWalk and big games, numerous social events, and much much more....

Big Games

Big games or street games turn IndieCade into a giant playground.

Each year IndieCade provides a forum for new types of public games and play. Games have included city-wide zombie tag, a twister racing games, mad hatter tea parties, paper mache pigeons pummeled with wiffleball bats, a virtual putt-putt course, paparazzi, subtle mobs, and more.

The Big Games at the festival will be played October 6 & 7.

//Public: GameWalk

GameWalk

The GameWalk / Festival Arcade is free and open to the public.

Top independent games from around the world will be featured at the heart of the IndieCade festival GameWalk. The GameWalk are a unique opportunity for enthusiasts, developers, and the general public to play these unique games, often before they make the big times. IndieCade's 2011 edition featured 36 games and their creators who came from 27 different countries.

The GameWalk will be open October 6 & 7.

//Creators' Lounge

Creators' Lounge

A special lounge for gamemakers and conference attendees.

The Creators' Lounge is a special place for creators and conference attendees to share their work, meet up, network and spend time throughout the festival. Happy Hours and refreshment breaks are held in this location.

The Creators' Lounge is open throughout the conference and festival October 5, 6, & 7.

Festival panels and workshops are open to participants with festival wristbands and conference passes.

IndieCade's Festival Sessions are especially programmed for an audience of hobbyists, enthusiasts,and aspiring developers.

The dynamic and intimate IndieCade conference is now in its fifth year. Its reputation precedes itself as an unrivaled time for connecting with the community, exploring new terrain and challenging expectations. The conference has become a key event in the independent game community. The 2012 edition will be co-chaired by John Sharp, Tracy Fullerton, & Richard Lemarchand.

The IndieCade conference will be held October 5-7, with an opening night event on October 4th. Space is limited and seats will sell out.

//Red Carpet Awards

Red Carpet Awards
IndieCade's 2012 Red Carpet Awards will celebrate all of the finalists in the IndieCade festival.


This special invitation only event celebrates all of the IndieCade finalists and recognizes games as a renaissance medium. At the Red Carpet Award Ceremony more than a dozen awards including the jury award will be awarded at this gala ceremony.

Award winning and finalist games will be available for all conference, festival, and public attendees to play throughout the festival.

IndieXchange

IndieCade's IndieXchange 2012 is open only to developers who have submitted their game to IndieCade 2012.

IndieCade provides tailored matchmaking services to independent developers, setting up opportunities to meet and exchange ideas with publishers and institutions interested in funding, publishing, or collaborating. The IndieXchange is only open to developers who have submitted their game to IndieCade as a benefit of their submission fee.

IndieXchange takes place throughout the day of Thursday, October 4th. Space is limited.

//Public: Temporary Art Installation

Public Art

This year's public art grant has been announced. Invaded! has been selected by a distinguished review committee.

For a second year the Culver City Cultural Affairs Commission has provided a grant for temporary public art installation in conjunction with IndieCade. Our hats are off to the Cultural Affairs Commission for respecting the artistry and cultural relevance of video games.

Invaded! a sculptural installation by Jason Torchinsky will open October 1st, one week prior to IndieCade, in anticipation of the festival. More details will continue to be revealed as the sculptures are created and installed.

IndieCade HQ

The IndieCade headquarters is the central anchor for the festival and contains onsite Registration and Pass/Wristband Pick-up, Big Games Headquarters, Festival Sessions, Opening Night Game Slam and Party, Night Games, Closing Party, as well as a public playspace and the Creators' Lounge for conference attendees.

IndieCade Village opens October 4th for registration and remains open throughout the festival.

Night Games

Night games are a unique and memorable annual event at IndieCade.

Saturday night big games are unique to the IndieCade experience and a memorable festival highlight. The 2011 Night Games line-up included Johann Sebastian Joust, Shadowplay, superHYPERCUBE, Pxl Pshr as well as ongoing rounds of Ninja.

Night games run Saturday, October 6.
