Blurring the lines between toys and screens

About Ziff

Ziff is a space explorer, that travels to faraway planets to save her lost friends. Game and toy for children aged 5 to 8, Ziff is an exploration on tangible interfaces for children. It’s a physical toy that you can build and play with on screen. Ziff’s abilities are defined through different tangible configurations which appear virtually. The toy also acts as a controller throughout the game.

Developer Info

Alejandra Molina, Interaction Designer and Engineer, designed and developed Ziff for her final project at the graduate program at Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design in 2015.
A team formed along the way, during CIID and after.
In 2015, the artwork was done by Line Birgitte Borgensen and music by Nicklas Ngyren.
In 2016, a second version was made for GDC. Feild Craddock collaborated in designing the next version of the toy, while Andrés Molina and Rodrigo Cabrera developed the game again.
