Originally conceived in the 2015 Global Game Jam, Floor Plan seeks to bring classic item-trading adventure game sleuthing into virtual reality.
We believe the best adventure games are the ones that make failure fun along the way to solving puzzles. Often this happens with witty heroes and one-liners that test the fourth wall. Reading text isn't fun in VR, so instead we've tried to offer that feedback for puzzle solutions with animation and and sound. You find yourself face to face with a variety of characters and try to figure out what they want, or how to get what you want from them.
The elevator-as-movement mechanic limits VR locomotion, making the game comfortable for more players. But it's more than a workaround for locomotion. It's a window into other worlds, but it also becomes part of those worlds from time to time. Where some of our favorite games play with the fourth wall in interesting ways, we question its existence altogether.
