RunGunJumpGun is hyper-kinetic, arcade-inspired twitch game currently in development for mobile and PC. Combining mechanics lovingly borrowed from helicopter, run-and-gun, shmup, and platforming gaming classics, RunGunJumpGun has players commanding RunGun as he runs, shoots, and floats his way through hand-crafted levels with amped up Super Nintendo era graphics. Fiendishly difficult gameplay caters to twitch purists, while a simple, mobile friendly control scheme brings that world of bang-your-head-against-the-wall difficulty to touch devices in an exciting/frustrating/addicting new way.
The three members of ThirtyThree Games met while working together at an advertising agency. They co-opted the office for a couple of late-night game jams, before 2/3 of them quit the agency world. Wanting to keep the magic going, they hunkered down at their local MakerSpace and started banging their heads against the desks. The team splits programming, art and music duties three-ways, with a not unhealthy amount of overlap for good measure.
RunGunJumpGun was created to bring the difficulty, and excitement of modern twitch games like Hotline Miami, Super Meat Boy, and VVVVVV to mobile and touch platforms. It has a super simple two button control scheme that can be used to maneuver through in an endless array of puzzles and challenges. The gameplay and aesthetic all work together to create a hypnotic experience that pulls players in and keeps them playing even as they're ruthless killed, over, and over again in search of a way through the chaos. The game can be played holding an mobile device in portrait mode, one thumb for each side of the screen. The two button control scheme translates perfectly to computer and even console controllers, making RunGunJumpGun a seamless experience cross platform.
