Ama’s Momento

Awu C. – Maryyann L. – Kevin K.

‘Ama’s Momento’ is a mixed reality installation dedicated to my grandmother who dreams of building an art museum to preserve Taiwanese culture. Using a combination of physical installation, augmented reality, virtual reality, and projection mapping eleven students of various disciplines came together in Taiwan to collaborate in preserving her story.

This experience immortalizes Ama’s story by shaping it into a virtual museum. It brought together a community and started a movement that inspired the Taiwanese Ministry of Art and Culture to recognize her collection as being “Taiwan’s Most Valuable.” With Ama’s proposal approved by the Taiwanese government, her dream to build an art museum for her country is finally coming to fruition.
