SPRINT 4 MILESTONE BREAKDOWN
Please review this page so that you can complete the tasks early!
1) Create promotional materials and upgrade your project page.
The project page is a person’s first impression of your project and should both inform and catch their attention. Make sure it tells your story and presents the game well.
If you submitted a project page for Sprints 1, 2, or 3, you can simply update that itch.io page for Sprint 4 before submitting. Otherwise, create a new project page.
These settings can be changed after the ranking period ends.
- Select these project page options:
- Classification: Your choice
- Kind of project: Downloadable or in-browser.
- Release status: Your choice.
- Pricing: No Payments
- Go to Dashboard->Projects->and hit “Edit” for your project. Then, at the bottom of the page under Visibility & Access, select Public.
- In the project navbar go to More->Admins. Then add the rest of your team as admins, this will make it so that they are listed as Contributors on your jam submission.
We recommend that every team’s project page include the following:
- Final project build for Climate Jam 2026
- Project Title
- Developer / Team Name
- Short Promotional Language: write a blurb, a pitch, etc.
- Project Description: write a longer description. This can include details about the mechanics, the story, etc. It should include a statement about what topic your project addresses and what the call to action is.
- Promotional Image(s): At least one. These can be screenshots, promo graphics, animated gifs, etc.
- Promotional Video: this can be a proper trailer, raw project footage, etc.
- Team Credits: list your team members or their handles/nicknames and their roles.
- Climate Jam Acknowledgment: include some equivalent to “Created for Climate Jam 2026” and a link to the main jam page: https://itch.io/jam/climate-jam-2026
- Tags: Describe your game’s genre, platform, tone, and more with relevant tags, separated by commas.
Examples of tags include but are not limited to:
FPS, Racing, Horror, TTRPG, Strategy, Educational, Puzzle, Science, Action-Adventure, LGBTQ+, Historical, Rhythm Game, Educational, Exploration, Platformer, Fantasy, Battle Royale, Funny, Climate Change, Roguelike, etc. - Anything else: Anything to make your page more interesting, informative, and dynamic. You want to draw in potential players.
2) Prepare for your final submission.
When you submit, you will be asked for 1-4 sentence written responses to help contexualize your submission.
Please prepare these responses in advance, with your team, so that you don’t run out of time last minute and can simply copy/paste them when you submit.
The organizers also ask for some additional details for internal use.
Provide 1-3 sentence responses for the following:
- Artistic Statement / Use of Theme
How does your project incorporate the themes of the jam? What is the project’s positive climate solution and/or the call to action? What were your artistic intentions and inspirations behind your work - Development Summary
Describe your team’s development journey. What major changes happened between the original idea and the final product? What surprises did you find? What pitfalls did you navigate? What were the hardest things to cut from your concept? Describe your team - (optional) Release Plan
Describe the current releasability of your project. Describe a marketing plan for your project. - (optional) Further Development Plan
Describe what changes, additions, expansions, or sequels you want to make to this project in the future. This response can be purely hypothetical if you don’t plan to continue.
- Topic Tags: Describe the climate change related topics of your project using tags separated by commas.
- Sprint Participation: Did your team submit to every previous Climate Jam 2025 sprint? If not, please explain.
- Game Engine, Platform, Format: What game engine, platform, or format did you make this project in?
- Generative AI Disclosure
Was generative AI used in the creation of this game? If so, please describe how it was used (include the names/brands of the specific AI tools). - Primary Team Contact: Provide an email and/or Discord handle in case the jam organizers need to contact your team.
- Game Design Interns: If there are any IndieCade Game Design interns on your team, list their names here.
- (optional) Locations: What countries or cities are your team members joining from?
- (optional) Age Range: What is the approximate age range of your team?
- (optional) Organizations: What schools, institutions, and/or companies are your team members joining from?
3) Continue working on your build.
Keep playtesting! Find the bugs / issues and fix them. Make sure the build is stable.
Throughout the final sprint, pay special attention to the feedback you receive from players outside of your team.
With any remaining time you should further polish your project. Balance and tune your game. Refine the player experience. Clean up any art issues; your project should look and sound cohesive and complete. Add quality-of-life and basic accessibility improvements.
Now is not the time to add additional features.
4) (Optional) Stretch Goals
- Create a video promoting the game.
It could be an edited trailer or a narrated gameplay video. If you plan to majorly expand this project (or make a spinoff or sequel) you could even make a “pitch” video for the future of your game and team. This can be posted to your project page and/or with the submission materials. - Provide a new / updated feedback form for players to complete.
- Post to the #works-in-progress channel on the Discord server.
