Save the Date!

Tough Cookie Games

Remember the last time you were invited to a wedding? You received a fancy piece of paper with a date, location, and website that you promptly saved to your phone and recycled. Save the Date! is both an interactive wedding invitation and game that entertains guests while getting them hyped for the event months before they attend. Inspired by some of our favorite metroidvanias, guests play through the game as one half of the wedding couple to unlock the wedding details and save their other half. It is a platformer with light puzzling and questing, where players can run, jump, fight, and upgrade their way through a world customized by the couple themselves. As the player unlocks the various levels through power upgrades and questing, they will reveal not only more about the world they are in and how to rescue their partner, but more about the couple and their upcoming nuptials. While inspired by my own engagement and struggle with traditional invitation options, Save the Date! will eventually be themed for other large events as well.
