Help Olly the Osprey nurture Stepstone Island back to health in this mobile fitness game! Using the health data collected by the Health app on your iPhone, your step count and distance walked will be converted into coins and milestones. These currencies can then be used to purchase items in Olly's Outlet such as tools, plants, and landmarks to help restore the land. Depending on what items you place onto the island, guests may visit and compliment your hard work!
Stepstone Island was created as Katie Pustolski’s MFA in Interactive Media thesis project at the University of Southern California. The goal of this project was to explore how fitness data could be integrated into an idle game like system in order to motivate players to improve their fitness habits. The game was visually inspired by the islands in the Pacific Northwest, map illustrations, and the outdoors in general. It taps into a player’s desire to clean their environment and customize their own space while improving their own physical health. Created in the Unity Game Engine for Apple iPhone devices, development of the project started in May 2017 and finished in April 2018.
