The Games and Emerging Media program at Marist College is an exciting undergraduate program at a top regional university in New York.

All majors get a strong foundation in programming, art, game design, UI/UX, game writing/storytelling, and the business of games. In addition, you can take courses in the ethics of games, online culture, cybersecurity, data science, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, 3D animation, and other relevant topics. You also take a game studio course, which is set up like a mock game studio. And, you take a capstone course, where you create a professional-level game.

The Games and Emerging Media Program is:

  • Interdisciplinary and Flexible
  • Innovative and Creative
  • Caring and Inclusive
  • Community-minded
  • Hands-on
  • Student-focused

Students at Marist benefit from having a well-rounded curriculum, while also having access to top faculty, facilities, labs, techniques, and tools. Students receive the full college experience–sports, music, theater, extracurricular activities–in a nurturing environment that prepares you for both a career AND a fulfilling life.

In the Marist Games and Emerging Media Program, we prepare you for careers in:

  • Game programming
  • Game design
  • Game art/animation
  • User experience design
  • Software development
  • Game writing
  • Data/analytics
  • & More!

All games classes are project-based and involve student and faculty collaboration to create games, apps, websites, prototypes, VR/AR experiences, mobile games, board games, and other design projects.

We host frequent workshops and lectures with industry professionals. Marist is the official location of the Hudson Valley Undergraduate Games Conference where students present research presentations and games. You’ll also be encouraged to participate in Play Innovation Lab, where you’ll have the opportunity to design and research games.
