2013 Festival Games

IndieCade celebrates the best indie games of the year. Game developers from around the world converge in Culver City to show their games and this year's festival features 113 of these Officially Selected Games!

Big Games

Big Games are outdoor physical multiplayer games that are simply too big to be played sitting down.
IndieCade's Official Selection Big games will run 10 am - 7 pm Saturday, October 5th and 10 am - 5 pm Sunday October 6th. With addtional games at various parties and social events.

99 Tiny Games

A collection of location-specific games for people to play together using the world around them, each with rules only a few sentences long.

Tiny Games are location-specific games that you play in the real world, using the things around you as a part of the game. We installed 99 Tiny Games on big posters all around London, three in each of the 33 boroughs, and made an app to make Tiny Games available anywhere.

Hide & Seek is a game design studio that makes games for people to play together. Our work routinely crosses over from real-world to digital, as we harness browser, mobile and physical computing platforms to pioneer new kinds of play.

Babel Build

Big Game by M.C. Spross Reality

Babel Build is a cooperative construction game about gestural communication across language barriers. Teams use giant, colorful blocks to build precarious towers and then watch tumble down.


Big Game by Psychic Bunny Big Game

Batonk! is a game for people who like yelling at each other and pretending to be robots, made by people who REALLY like yelling at each other and pretending to be robots. Players assemble hands of cards to issue often-conflicting commands to the robots in order to score goals and accumulate points.

Cat on Yer Head

Big Game by Playniac Live game

Cat On Yer Head is a mass-participation, non-digital crowd game with a few simple rules. An imaginary cat is released into the audience and passed from person to person, where it must chase an imaginary mouse. Not only is the game a prototype for the idea of turning an audience into a human games console, it’s also an exploration of a novel form of game structure.

Church of Play

The Church of Play (CoP) is an experiment in establishing a spiritual community of players that deal and investigate relationships regarding the connection between spirituality and play. This reality game offers people the possibility develop, play and communicate their own rituals and spiritual ideology.

Field TD

Big Game by ESI Design Big Game

An analog live-action, round-based resource and strategy game in the style of the “Tower Defense” genre of games. The goal of the game is for the offense to destroy the castle in five rounds, while the defense is trying to destroy the offense. It's everything you've always wanted in a field game, including foam swords.


Big Game by Paperkettle

illucia is a patchbay controller by chris novello. It lets you use physical cables to connect things like videogames, music software, text editors, synthesizers, and more. It has a free suite of interconnectable games and software, plus it speaks OSC so it works with many existing programs; it is a patchable videogame system and a network instrument. Also, illucia is open source hardware & software (and built with Arduino and Processing), so you're free to reimagine/remix/replicate it in any way.

Killer Queen Arcade

Killer Queen Arcade is a 10-player real-time strategy arcade platformer. Two teams, each led by a powerful Queen, face off to be the first to bring the giant snail god home, horde twelve morsels of nectar, or assassinate the enemy queen three times.

Money Making Workshop

Table Top Game by Eddo Stern Tabletop

Money Making Workshop is a role playing game for 2 to 4 players. One player plays as Genius and the others play as Pistons. The game lasts 13 rounds, about 25 minutes. Genius plays against the Pistons. Be aware that completing the game is going to be a challenge, but be assured that all of your hard work will pay off in the end.

PreConception (pregame notgame)

Spaghetti Standoff

Players stand in a circle holding a piece of uncooked spaghetti on each end; the Spaghetti being the link between players. The goal of the game is to be the last pair standing with a piece of unbroken spaghetti between them.

Super Secret Spies

Super Secret Spies is a playground game in which players are divided into two teams. Each player wears a fedora hat with a runner number pinned to one side. The goal is to spot the opposite team’s numbers while keeping yours from being spotted.

Zombie Ward

Survive the zombie apocalypse one move at a time.Experience the breakout of the zombie apocalypse first-hand in this turn-based action game. The game mashes up the popular folk games Ninja and Zombie Tag into a raucous, fast paced survival game.
