What is IndieCade Festival?

The IndieCade Festival is the premiere event dedicated to celebrating independent games in the nation. Now in its 10th year, IndieCade is held each October in the Los Angeles area and is open to the industry and to the public.

IndieCade Festival 2017, October 6th - 8th, offers a unique opportunity to play and preview over 200 of the latest innovative indie games of all types and from around the world. Attendees enjoy games, talks, and events with both creators of new titles, as well as legends from across the industry. In addition to the opportunity to play games from around the world and meet with their creators, IndieCade hosts an in-depth game developer summit, conference sessions, workshops, business networking, social activities, tournaments, and entertainment.

Our New Location

The IndieCade Festival is thrilled to move to Little Tokyo in Downtown Los Angeles for our 2017 edition. Specifically, IndieCade will take place throughout parts of the Japanese American National Museum, the National Center for the Preservation of Democracy, and the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center. IndieCade 2017 is set up to be a great indoor-outdoor event with neighboring venues and activities, conveniently located adjacent to the Gold Line, as well as the Arts District, and many fine eateries and bars. Experience New Games

The IndieCade Festival is a celebration of indie games, their creators, and innovation within the industry. We also curate and recognize those that we identify as the top indie games of the year and give attendees the chance to meet the creators of these amazing games. Hands-on gameplay includes IndieCade Award Winners, Nominees, and Special Selections, with digital, table, and real world titles.

The games span genres and platforms and truly push expectations. Get the chance to play games you are anticipating before they become hits, experience titles that can only be played at IndieCade Festival, or discover games and creators that you never would have known about. Plus you get a chance to vote for your favorite game to receive the Audience Choice Award at the end of the Festival. Check out the previous year's game selections HERE.

IndieCade runs multiple conference tracks and sessions throughout the Festival. Featured Sessions include Keynotes, Game Developer Conversations, Panels, Preview Screenings, and more.

Some additional stand-out session tracks include:

  • Seminars & Panels (October 7th - 8th) - Provides focused programming for working game developers including a series of workshops, sessions, master classes, and networking meetings specifically for developers Provide practical and important workshops and critical sessions for novice and working game creators. Seats are limited.
  • The think:indie forums (October 7th - 8th) - Rather than a standard conference talk format, think:indie is designed as facilitated and collaborative discussions. These break-out workshop-style discussions will focus on three areas: history, politics, and new technology, specifically in relationship to the independent game creation movement. Our goal is to stimulate real outcomes and build upon these learnings each year, supporting the issues in our community that we care about most. Seats are limited.

IndieCade offers multiple show-and-tell opportunities including a “GameTasting” of new games and works in progress. There are many pop up showcases of games from around the world, as well as top student games. Artist talks and Salons compliment exploring the new games!
