Nevermind is a biofeedback-enhanced adventure horror game that takes you into the darkly surreal world of the subconscious. As you explore the abstract world within the minds of trauma victims and solve the cryptic puzzles lurking within, a biofeedback sensor monitors your moment-to-moment anxiety. If you let your fears get the best of you, the game will become harder. If you?re able to calm yourself in the face of terror, the game will be more forgiving.Nevermind strives to create a haunting gameplay experience that also teaches you how to be more aware of your internal responses to stressful situations. If you can learn to control your anxiety within the intense realm of Nevermind, imagine what you will be able to do when faced with stressful moments in the real world?
Nevermind is driven by the vision of combining an entertaining gameplay experience with biofeedback technology to immerse, challenge, and ultimately benefit the player - all within a dark but beautiful aesthetic. We want to create an experience that moves, inspires, and engages players through the narrative and atmosphere of the game experience and, at the same time, compels them to challenge themselves to take on intense situations and habituate using stress management techniques to stay calm in uncomfortable scenarios.Furthermore, by focusing the narrative on PTSD and psychological trauma, we hope that Nevermind can raise awareness of the complexities of trauma and help to destigmatize and humanize it to a degree by placing the player in the shoes of fictional characters who struggle with a unique trauma-related event.Nevermind is a non-standard game in many ways. The biofeedback functionality sets it apart from many games in and of itself. However, it has always been important to us that Nevermind is more than just a cool use of emerging technology.
This version of Nevermind was developed by Flying Mollusk. The studio is based in Glendale, CA and consists of 4 full time developers (most of whom met each other while studying at USC) with additional help from other folks like our amazing Audio Director. While each member has their area of focus, we often wear and share many hats.
