Pavilion, the fourth-person puzzling adventure from Visiontrick Media, throws you directly into its mysterious world without any text tutorials or beginning explanations. It is a puzzle game portrayed through exploration and audio-visual imagery. By interacting and observing you gradually, bit by bit, learn things about both the puzzling gameplay and the world itself.
Pavilion takes place in a world unknown to both the player and the main character. A surreal dream-like place where reality clash with fantasy. Fully realised in beautiful hand-crafted 2d graphics and dreamy ambient music that makes for an unforgettable audio-visual experience.
Pavilion started as the residue of a failed prototype. We were very unhappy with how that prototype turned out and we didn't feel passionate about the art or the design of it. So we decided to scrap most of it, only keeping a small part of it, and then focusing on something that excited us both on an art and design level. We were also interested in trying out a more exploratory development style, working with high level guidelines but then feeling our way through the details and letting the game guide us where it wants to go. Where very happy how this has affected the games design, making it feel very natural, organic and easy for anyone to get into just by poking and prodding at the game. Learning and exploring as they go.
A two man band featuring Rickard Westman and Henrik Flink, working out of Stockholm, Sweden and Tokyo, Japan they together aim to create experiences with a unique audio-visual alchemy and overall interesting way of interaction.
Rickard and Henrik met during collage and kept in contact the following year. After working in the game and animation industry for a couple of years, they started working on some small experiments on their spare time that then turned to the game Pavilion. Which they now have worked on for the past 3 years and hope to release later this year on PS4 & PSVita.
