About Elsinore

Elsinore is a narrative adventure game based in the world of Shakespeare's Hamlet. In Elsinore you play as Ophelia, a young noblewoman of Denmark, who awakes from a terrible vision: in four days, everyone in Elsinore Castle will be dead. To make matters worse, the vision has inexplicably thrown her into a time loop. Forced to relive the same four days over and over again, Ophelia must learn to survive in Elsinore, doing everything in her power to change the future.

Elsinore is a point-and-click adventure game with time loops; at its core, it's Shakespeare meets Majora's Mask/Groundhog Day.

Developer's Artistic Statement

Elsinore was inspired by a desire to combine the world of traditional power-fantasy-fueled game mechanics with the story mechanics of tragedy, where despite the protagonist's best efforts, all roads lead to tragedy. In Elsinore, you play as Ophelia - a woman cursed to see the terrible future which awaits her loved ones, yet inherently powerless to force a change. Whispering in peoples' ears will persuade them into and out of courses of action, but in a Shakespearean world, all characters are inherently flawed and capable of evil. At its heart, Elsinore is not a game about saving the day and keeping everyone alive. It is about the human ties we build and the decisions we make in the face of an unavoidable tragedy.
