Gnomoria is a PC sandbox management game focusing on gameplay systems and AI to encourage creative play and emergent behaviors. A small group of gnomes are managed indirectly to form a settlement, care for and defend themselves.
Gnomoria was created to explore procedurally generated content as well as AI and emergent behaviors. Game design is focused heavily on systems with no level design. The world is procedurally generated with loosely defined rules for how everything can interact. There is purposefully no direction, goals, achievements, etc to encourage the player to "play"; set their own goals and explore the game. The only end game condition is the death of all gnomes.
Gnomoria was primarily developed by 1 person. Art, music and sound design was contracted as needed with communication mainly over email and Skype.
