IndieCade & Horizons Internships

IndieCade is accepting applications for internships! Each internship is individual and the experience is tailored to our intern‘s goals and interests, in order to best serve their future and their career. 

High Priority! We are strongly in need of interns for the following categories:

  • Web Management, ideally with WordPress experience
  • Stream Tech, ideally with OBS experience
  • Motion Graphics

    We also have a brand new Summer Game Design Internship!

    Spend part of your summer building a game designed to make the world a better place! IndieCade is pleased to announce a new internship opportunity available to students for summer 2024.

    This six-week game design internship will provide you with the opportunity to work with a team on a game as part of our climate jam challenge. Designers and climate specialists from around the world come together each year to tackle this important issue and help build solutions. Jam theme will be announced on Earth Day, April 22nd.

    Note: if you are interested in applying to more than one IndieCade internship you do not need to apply with both forms. Simply apply with the IndieCade / Horizons Internship Form, there is a place to mark interest in the Summer game design Internship.

    IndieCade currently has openings for interns in each of the categories of the following positions. Interns may have multiple responsibilities or just one priority assignment based on interest, experience, and availability. We are also open to proposals for additional internship categories.


    • IndieCade does not develop or publish games.
    • IndieCade internships are unpaid but can be arranged for credit.

    Horizons Executive Team Intern
    Horizons is seeking one student looking for intern experience working with an executive team. The intern would assist the Horizons Executive team with the overall organization and production of the Horizons Conference and Showcase. Experiences may include: providing the executive team a student perspective, email interfacing with faculty and administrators, organizing meetings, taking meeting notes, and general assistance to the executive team where needed.

    Production Intern – for any work directly related to organizing, overseeing, and assisting events; live or online.

    • Night Games (needs to be Los Angeles-based)
    • Live Streaming (i.e. Beyond Screens)
    • Festival & Festival Awards
    • Game Jams
    • Submissions and Jurying

    Community Management Intern – for communications, outreach, tracking, research, and coordination with our IndieCade community.

    • Social (posting on and managing socials)
    • Marketing (planning and executing marketing pushes)
    • Alumni (our past nominated developers, conference speakers, etc)
    • Membership
    • Horizons (general) 
    • IndieCade (general) 
    • Discord (mod)

    Graphics Intern – for graphical design and motion graphics (editing existing templates as well as designing new ones. 

    Web Management Intern – for designing and updating our web pages and backend scripts.

    • Website (WordPress experience strongly preferred.)
    • Submissions/Jurying (Google Sheets Apps Scripts, JavaScript, experience required)
    • Discord (admin)

    Video Intern – for producing, editing, and archiving our streams and promotional videos.

    • Stream Tech (live technical production)
    • Archiving (editing and archiving existing videos)
    • Editing (creating promo reels, pre-made footage for streams)

    More about our internship program

    IndieCade’s internships are not paid, however we provide important benefits. These benefits will always be specifically tailored to each intern depending on interests and needs, additional  benefits can include academic credit (depending on school requirements), access to IndieCade events, free annual IndieCade memberships and/or submissions, networking and more. We are also able to provide letters of recommendation and introductions, as appropriate, upon request.

    Interns must be highly motivated. We seek to enable and trust our interns to work independently. Hours are flexible and based on your availability.
