INDIEXCHANGE SUMMIT

IndieXchange Summit (IXC) is IndieCade Anywhere and Everywhere’s developer summit and provides access to Sessions (talks, workshops, panels, and forums), a day of Networking (with developers, funders, publishers, and influencers), and show-and-tell opportunities.

This summit is designed by and for developers who have submitted to IndieCade, and complimentary access is specifically provided to all developers who submit to IndieCade Festival (US) as a goal to further the community, inspirations, and opportunities.

Sessions

IndieXchange Sessions are centered on providing important information to mid-career developers and studios. You already have a team that has successfully submitted a game to IndieCade, now what are the next steps to making that team more successful, building it into a business, and making it something that will be sustainable long term.

These sessions include everything from practical workshops about contracts and legal issues to working with various tools, building your fan Base (Marketing), and more. Some examples from previous years include: “Five Things To Do When Launching a Transmedia IP,” “Explosions are cool, but…,” “The Age of Play,” “How To Teach Your Board Game,” “Make It Personal,” “The rocky road of indie game development with global ambitions,” “Making History,” and many more.

Networking

While IndieXchange usually includes 1-on-1 meetings with a variety of publishers, we will not be doing this in 2020 due to the online nature of the conference. Scheduled publisher meetings will resume in our post-COVID conferences.

GameTasting

In response to the realities of 2020 and COVID-19, we’re modifying GameTasting to give you the exposure of our usual GameTasting, though we’re not able to provide the usual playtesting. Whereas in-person GameTasting allowed 10-15 devs at-a-time a two-hour window in which to live demo their game, we are now providing a GameTasting that will allow all games to be seen (though not played) throughout the conference and beyond.

For GameTasting this year, we are asking you to submit a short video of gameplay of your in-progress game. Once the video has been approved, we will add it to a YouTube playlist of videos which are officially part of our IndieCade GameTasting and provide you with a link that you can share with friends and others which will link to your game and then continue playing into the games of other GameTasting devs. Here’s what we’re looking for in the video:

  • 2-second title slide including
    • Game title
    • Developer name (studio or individual)
    • Website URL
    • Contact info (email, Twitter, or something else small)
    • Link to a playable demo, if you wish
  • 1-2 minutes of actual gameplay
    • You can have a part of this be a small intro clip, but we need you to show gameplay, not a commercial.
    • You are very welcome to provide voiceover to this, telling us more about your game, development process, etc.
  • Repeat of the 2-second title slide from the beginning

And More!

Apart from the sessions and GameTasting, one of the best parts of IndieXchange has always been the community. We’re working to find the best way for you all to meet and chat during our summit, and we’ll have more info soon.
